Suzuki to return Mehran with Alto by 2018
ISLAMABAD: The Senate delegation – led by Senator Hidayatullah – incorporated Senators Khalida Parveen, Kalsoom Perveen and Chaudhry Tanvir Khan. Additional Secretary Sher Ayub Khan of the Industries and Production Ministry and Engineering Development Board Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tariq Ejaz Chaudhry were also present.
Sources privy to the development confirmed that the firm has already started the process of localisation of parts for the new 660cc car. Moreover, the company also unveiled its plans of replacing Suzuki Cultus with Suzuki Celerio 1,000cc by March 2017.
The automotive giant – Suzuki – has disclosed its plan to replace its iconic Mehran 800cc with the locally manufactured Suzuki Alto 660cc by 2018.
The information was shared with Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production during its visit to the company’s production area.
Pak Suzuki had discontinued Suzuki FX 800cc in 1988 with the introduction of Suzuki Mehran. The firm kept earning huge revenues due to the same model despite heavy influx of imported vehicles in the country. Suzuki has launched Alto’s seventh generation in Japan and now it is going launch it in Pakistan.
